Hugo One, a 28-year-old disco-soul singer from Luxembourg, is constantly stopped by strangers because he looks remarkably like Elon Musk. The comparison started in 2018 when a student mentioned his resemblance while Hugo was teaching in Germany. Since then, his daily activities, like shopping and going to bars, have become challenging due to the frequent encounters.

While Hugo doesn’t mind the occasional attention, he doesn’t consider being compared to Musk a compliment. He describes the tech mogul as “not a nice person” and “not at all good looking.” Despite this, he tries to see the humor in the situation and laughs it off, even when strangers ask for pictures or make remarks.

A video he filmed in Aberdeen, Scotland, where a group of people stopped him and couldn’t believe he wasn’t Musk, went viral after being posted online. What Hugo thought would be a small, fun clip ended up racking up over 1.5 million views and increased traffic to his music page.

Although the unwanted attention can be overwhelming, Hugo says he still likes his appearance and doesn’t mind the comparison—as long as people understand that he doesn’t share Musk’s beliefs or personality.
