Jeremy Clarkson has reignited his rivalry with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, claiming victory as Tesla faces a decline in sales and an increase in vehicle vandalism. In a recent column for The Times, Clarkson celebrated Tesla’s struggles, highlighting a significant drop in sales, especially in the U.S. and Germany, where numbers have fallen by around 70%. Additionally, the number of Teslas being traded in has tripled compared to last year.
Clarkson also revisited their past tensions, referencing the legal battle over his critical review of the Tesla Roadster on Top Gear. Musk had accused the show of faking vehicle malfunctions, but the lawsuit against Top Gear was ultimately unsuccessful.
In his remarks, Clarkson suggested that Musk has never fully gotten over losing the case and the subsequent appeal. He criticized the Tesla CEO for holding onto past grudges, adding that Musk “hasn’t really got over it.”
Clarkson also spoke out against those who vandalize Tesla vehicles, expressing sympathy for owners who bought them in good faith, even as he remained skeptical of Tesla’s future in the market. The feud between the two appears far from resolution.
