
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced on Saturday that all existing visas for South Sudanese passport holders will be revoked immediately, and no new visas will be issued.
Rubio explained the decision was prompted by South Sudan’s transitional government refusing to take back its deported citizens in a timely fashion. He shared the announcement through a statement on the social media platform X.
The U.S. State Department echoed Rubio’s concerns, stating it’s time for South Sudan to stop exploiting the United States and begin cooperating with repatriation efforts.
