SpaceX Offers Free Starlink Dishes in Some Countries
SpaceX is expanding its Starlink internet service by offering free satellite dishes in certain countries like Italy and Australia. Customers receive the dish for free by committing to a 12-month residential plan. This move comes after price cuts aimed at attracting more users outside the U.S., where sign-ups are currently paused in major cities due to network limits.
SpaceX’s Big Wins and Global Reach
The offer follows major victories for Elon Musk’s company, including a $5.9 billion military satellite contract and an $843 million deal with NASA to decommission the International Space Station. Starlink now has over 5 million users across more than 120 markets.

Challenges Amid Political and Public Backlash
Despite the growth, Musk faces criticism over his political involvement and comments. Tesla sales are reportedly declining due to boycotts, and some Starlink installers in Canada are being harassed amid trade tensions. It remains unclear whether the free dish promotion will reach other regions.
Amazon Launches Project Kuiper to Compete
Meanwhile, Amazon is preparing to launch Project Kuiper, a $20 billion satellite network to rival Starlink. With the first satellite launches expected soon, Amazon plans to offer affordable internet and lightweight terminals, aiming to bridge the global digital divide with speeds up to 1Gbps.
