Senator Mitch McConnell, a Republican from Kentucky, criticized former President Donald Trump this week over his stance on the war in Ukraine. McConnell argued that Trump’s hesitation to hold Russia solely accountable for the conflict shows a serious misunderstanding of how negotiations and leverage work in international relations.
In a statement marking the third anniversary of the war, McConnell placed full blame on Russian President Vladimir Putin for the ongoing devastation, calling it a “human catastrophe.” He also warned that even if Ukraine laid down its arms, Putin’s ambitions wouldn’t end with Kyiv.
