Marking his 100th day in office, President Donald Trump defended his policies and delivered a sharp response to voters expressing regret over supporting him in 2024. In an ABC News interview, when pressed on economic concerns and backlash over tariffs on China, Trump replied bluntly: “Well, they did sign up for it, actually.”
Trump emphasized that his economic stance, including aggressive trade tactics and tariff policies, was a core part of his campaign. He argued the U.S. had been exploited by other countries for too long and claimed progress had been made, citing significant drops in gas and egg prices.
Despite his defense, polls show growing dissatisfaction with his leadership. A joint ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos survey found that 55% of Americans disapprove of his job performance—marking the lowest 100-day approval rating in eight decades.
Another poll by the New York Times and Siena College revealed only 42% approval, with 66% of respondents labeling his second term as “chaotic.”
