Pennsylvania Democratic Senator John Fetterman has addressed the growing rumors that he might switch his party affiliation to the GOP, firmly stating, “That’s not going to happen.” Speaking to Semafor on Monday, Fetterman dismissed the speculation, calling it “amateur hour” and clarified that he wouldn’t follow the path of former Senators Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema, who left the Democratic Party to become Independents, though they still caucused with Democrats.
Fetterman emphasized that even if he considered such a switch, it would be a “rocket sled to Palookaville,” adding that he would not fit in as a Republican. Despite sparking interest with recent actions, such as his visit to Mar-a-Lago to meet with President Trump, working with Republicans on the Laken Riley Act, and publicly supporting the Israeli government, Fetterman is focused on reshaping the Democratic approach to Trump and encouraging his party to remain composed and open to confirming his nominees.
