Adric White, 18, entered a Family Dollar store with the intent to rob it, pulling out a gun and holding the employees hostage while demanding cash. However, his plan was interrupted when a Good Samaritan, legally carrying a concealed weapon, arrived at the scene. The Good Samaritan confronted White, ordering him not to move. But when White turned to face him, the Good Samaritan fired five shots, injuring White and allowing others to restrain him.
Despite surviving the shooting with five gunshot wounds, White’s ego took a significant blow. He was treated at the hospital and later charged with armed robbery. His family, however, was outraged by the Good Samaritan’s actions, questioning why the man wasn’t arrested for shooting White and arguing that he should have just turned away and not gotten involved in the situation.
The Good Samaritan, feeling threatened by White’s gun and his aggressive actions, took the shots to protect the employees and himself. The police determined that his actions were reasonable given the circumstances. The family of White, however, didn’t accept this explanation, upset that their relative’s robbery was stopped and that he did not leave the scene unscathed.
While White is expected to recover from his injuries, the situation serves as a reminder of how dangerous armed robberies can be. The Good Samaritan, who has chosen to remain anonymous, expressed regret that he had to resort to using his concealed carry weapon but made it clear that he acted in self-defense and to protect others in danger.
