Trump Draws Attention After Small Detail Noticed in His New Oval Office

President Donald Trump has added a replica of the FIFA World Cup trophy to the Oval Office, sparking curiosity and speculation online. As is common for incoming presidents, Trump has personalized the White House with meaningful items, but the inclusion of the golden Jules Rimet Trophy, also known as the FIFA World Cup, has caught the attention of soccer fans. The sight of the trophy behind Trump while signing executive orders has led to many questions, with some users on social media wondering what the World Cup is doing in the president’s office.

There are a few theories behind the display. One possibility is that it’s a tribute to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada. Since the U.S. will host the majority of the matches, including the final, Trump could be preparing for his role in presenting the trophy to the winners. Another theory suggests that the display may be linked to Trump’s ongoing trade discussions with Mexico and Canada, particularly regarding a proposed 25% tariff on imports from these countries.

Trump’s long-standing support of FIFA and his relationship with its president, Gianni Infantino, could also be a factor in the trophy’s placement. Infantino attended Trump’s inauguration and has publicly congratulated him on his re-election. This connection might explain the presence of the replica World Cup in the Oval Office, as Trump has shown consistent support for the international soccer governing body.

This isn’t the first time a World Cup trophy has been seen in the Oval Office, as a similar miniature version appeared during Trump’s first term in 2018. Some speculated at the time that it was a message to Russian President Vladimir Putin, as Russia hosted the 2018 World Cup. Whether the current display serves as a tribute to the upcoming tournament, a political statement, or simply as decoration, it continues to generate conversation about Trump’s choice of Oval Office décor.
