Some Republican senators openly criticized President Donald Trump’s new tariffs, which were put into effect on his self-declared “Liberation Day” Tuesday. They showed little patience for the administration, offering no time to assess whether the tariffs would succeed or not.
Senator John Kennedy (R-La) told CNN’s Manu Raju on The Lead with Jake Tapper that, “In the long run, we’re all dead,” but emphasized that the short-term effects matter as well. He added that no one really knows how these tariffs will impact the economy.
