Vladimir Putin has once again praised Elon Musk, this time for his ambitious goal of colonizing Mars. In a statement about Russia’s space policy, Putin compared Musk to Sergei Korolev, the Soviet space pioneer who helped launch major space achievements like the Sputnik satellite and Yuri Gagarin’s flight. Putin emphasized that such visionary individuals rarely appear and that Musk’s bold ideas, although seemingly impossible today, may eventually become a reality.
Musk’s plans for Mars have been met with both excitement and skepticism. He believes that within 20 to 30 years, Mars could support self-sustaining life, and SpaceX has even outlined a mission to reach Mars as early as 2029. Despite concerns about the potential dangers of such an endeavor, Musk remains confident about the future of space colonization.
Putin has also expressed admiration for Musk’s business success, particularly after Musk refused to allow Ukraine to use SpaceX’s Starlink satellite network to target Russian naval vessels. Putin called Musk an “outstanding person” and acknowledged his achievements, which include navigating complex geopolitical and technological challenges.
With his recent comments, Putin has shown continued interest in Musk’s work, even as Musk has become a more prominent global figure. His praise suggests Musk may be gaining influence in both the business and political realms, positioning him as a key figure in the ongoing space race and international politics.
