The Long Island police officer who arrested Justin Timberlake for DUI in the Hamptons has been named Officer of the Year for his “immediate impact” during his first year on the job.
Officer Michael Arkinson, 24, led his department in both summonses and arrests, including the high-profile arrest of Timberlake last June. Despite not recognizing the pop star at the time, Arkinson charged him with DWI, a charge later reduced to a lesser offense.
Arkinson, known for his strict approach to policing, also gained attention for saving a local from an overdose just days before the Timberlake arrest.
