
Oscar-winning actor and prominent Democrat George Clooney has once again stirred the political scene, nearly a year after his viral New York Times op-ed contributed to President Joe Biden stepping aside from the 2024 race. This time, Clooney is voicing support for a potential new leader of the Democratic Party.
In an open conversation with CNN’s Jake Tapper on Wednesday, Clooney, while promoting his Broadway project “Good Night and Good Luck,” didn’t hold back in naming who he thinks should take the spotlight. Among the names mentioned, one Democrat stood out clearly to him: Maryland Governor Wes Moore.
After briefly acknowledging several big-name Democrats, Clooney firmly pointed to Moore as the standout, saying he’s “levitating above” the rest. His endorsement has already sparked speculation about Moore’s rising influence heading into the 2028 election.
