Though no longer in office, Joe Biden is making his voice heard. At a recent conference in Chicago, he criticized Donald Trump and Republican lawmakers for proposing reforms he believes would threaten Social Security.
Speaking on Social Security National Day of Action, Biden emphasized the importance of the program, calling it a lifeline for 73 million Americans. He praised his own administration’s efforts to protect it and warned against attempts to “cut and dismantle” the system.

Biden condemned proposals that would require Social Security to be reapproved by Congress every five years, calling such ideas arrogant and dangerous. He also criticized Trump’s tax policies, linking them to rising national debt and harm to working Americans.
He argued that some leaders aim to dismantle Social Security for their own gain, vowing, “I absolutely refuse to support any of this.” Biden stressed that true leadership means honoring promises and protecting the people.
His remarks sparked applause—and debate. Should Social Security remain untouched, or is reform necessary as the country faces economic challenges?
