Tom Hanks’ portrayal of a Trump supporter in a controversial skit during Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary special has angered many Trump supporters. In the 2014 Black Jeopardy! segment, Hanks played Doug, a Trump fan who answered questions correctly, despite the quiz being geared toward the Black community.
The tension grew when Doug hesitated to shake hands and suggested a “White Jeopardy” version. Critics like conservative commentator Benny Johnson and right-wing pundit Mario Nawfal accused the skit of unfairly depicting Trump voters as racist. Many fans online also criticized the segment, calling it offensive and unfunny.
