The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has accused a McDonald’s in Decatur, Alabama, of intentionally adding bacon to a Muslim family’s meal. The family, visiting from New York, ordered 14 sandwiches, and during their meal, they discovered the bacon, which is forbidden in Islam. Khaula Hadeed, head of the Alabama chapter of CAIR, claimed this was not a mistake but an act of religious and ethnic bigotry.

Hadeed pointed out that the family frequently eats McChickens and was familiar with what they ordered. She argued that the addition of bacon in 14 sandwiches couldn’t have been accidental, labeling the incident as intentional and harmful. Hadeed called for an investigation and stated that one of the adults had vomited twice after consuming the food.
The incident sparked intense reactions on social media. Many sympathized with the family, with some believing that someone intentionally added bacon to humiliate them. One commenter referred to the act as “UnAmerican” and expressed disbelief that anyone would do such a thing to an innocent family.

However, others were less convinced and suggested the whole situation might have been a scam. Some speculated that the family chose an Alabama McDonald’s deliberately to attract more attention, while others doubted that any McDonald’s employee would target customers in such a manner.
In light of the controversy, Hadeed called for McDonald’s to investigate the matter, hold accountable the employees responsible, and offer an apology to the family. The debate over the incident continues to stir strong opinions on both sides.
