A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded in Baytown, Texas, when six-month-old Kyomi Temple died after being attacked by a family dog in their apartment on April 1. Emergency responders rushed her to the hospital, but she later succumbed to her injuries. Authorities confirmed her death the following day.
The family owned two male pit bull mixes, both of which were secured by animal control. After an investigation, officials identified one dog as the attacker. In line with local regulations and with the family’s consent, that dog will be euthanized. No arrests or charges have been made as the Baytown Police Department continues to investigate.
Neighbors reported that the baby’s mother ran outside for help immediately after the attack, visibly shaken and clutching her daughter. Officers later removed the dogs from the apartment with the help of a warrant, confirming that only one of them was involved in the incident.
In the days following, the community rallied around the grieving family. A memorial of flowers and stuffed animals was placed near the home, while a candlelight vigil and balloon release were held to honor Kyomi’s memory. The family has also launched a fundraiser to help with funeral expenses, expressing deep sorrow for the loss of their beloved daughter.
